HiRISE and CRISM images to west of this locale show these are very cool and convoluted folds in sulfate deposits along the floor of Ius Chasma. CRISM data shows lots of subtle mineral changes so we need high resolution to see any corresponding variations in shape. Part of Valles Marineris, Ius Chasma is about 938 kilometers long.
