Arcadia Planitia shows evidence for widespread near-surface ice that appears in different glacial shapes, including polygons and pits. There is evidence for thick buried glacial ice, and this image overlies what appears to be a buried glacier. This observation will assist in mapping out the distribution of the terrain shapes on and in relation to this potential glacier. This has broader implications for potential resources for human exploration.
