Glacial Moraines in Nereidum Montes
This image covers part of a lobe-shaped flow from a mountain in the southern middle latitudes. The enhanced-color cutout shows the curved terminal ridges of this flow.

Most researchers now agree that these are glacial moraines—piles of rocky debris eroded and deposited by the flow of glacial ice. Ice is still present below a debris cover in many of these features, as revealed by the Shallow Radar (SHARAD) experiment on MRO. The bright blue patches are seasonal frost, protected from sublimation on the shaded slopes.
