The objective of this observation is to examine fine layers exposed on around buttes. Some parts of Arabia Terra contain a series of layers. The layers of this image can be compared to other outcrops of layered terrain. While barely visible in a Context Camera image, HiRISE will be able to show the layers in spectacular fashion.
