This observation was public suggestion from HiWish: to image an area within an eroded impact crater that shows very clear layers and inverted channels exposed in the distal ends of two alluvial fans. Inverted channels are made from deposits that wind up being more resistant to erosion than the surrounding terrain and so remain higher-standing.
