These hills are surrounded by small gullies, where there is likely activity related to recurring slope lineae, perhaps even slumps, which are masses of loosely consolidated material or rock layers that move a short distance down a slope. These features are similar to well-monitored hills in Juventae Chasma. Eos is located in the southern part of the Valles Marineris canyon system.
