Transverse Dunes
There are not many “purely” transverse dunes on Mars. Most dunes seem to be formed by more than one wind, so they can get messy. This dune field seems to be an exception to that: barchanoid dunes coalesce into straight-crested dunes that are best described simply as “transverse,” one of the endmember dune morphological types. Why not have a closer look?
