Fine Layering in West Candor Chasma

Fine Layering in West Candor Chasma

Mighty Fine Layering
This observation captured a great amount of fine layering in higher resolution than was visible in Mars Orbiter Camera images. This scene is located in Candor Chasma, one of the largest canyons that make up Valles Marineris. It is approximately 810 kilometers long (503 miles) and has is divided into two regions - eastern and western Candor. There is evidence of wind and water erosion, as well as significant gravity driven mass wasting (landslides).
