This image features small, rough floored valleys between mounds showing differential erosion. Nilosyrtis is cut by many small valley/mesa combinations such as this, and their origin may have been a catastrophic outflow event. Close imaging of the stratigraphy of these mounds and valley fill may be able to clue us in as to the evolution of this chaotic landscape.
